get planar surfaces in a network

    Hi all,

I'm trying to code something similar like this here:

    http://vimeo.com/39559828
This was done with the kangaroo plugin by Daniel Piker.

I would like to write a script that is able to make all surfaces in network of surfaces planar.
Quite close to what is shown on the left hand side in the video from daniel.
Right now I don't really know where to start.

I modeled a more or less complex structure which now has a lot of unplanar surfaces and I am looking for an idea how to get them ALL planar again, but keeping the underlying logic of the network.
There shouldn't be any gaps or overlaps afterwards.

    Any suggestions are appreciated ;-)

    Thanks!

It looks like Daniel is using a mesh composed of quads instead of independent surfaces. That seems like a lighter solution that trying to manage a large set of independent surfaces.
